Hello arano
It lives on forested mountain slopes, in the beds of wet ravines and in cleared areas after forest has been cut. It may also be found in tea plantations. At higher altitudes it reaches the edge of coniferous forest.1

Humpito

1

Because it gives birth to live young, the whole litter is lost if the mother is injured or killed. An egg-laying snake does not lose all its young in the same way.1

2

On the Black Sea coast it leaves hibernation in March, but at 600 to 800 m above sea level it emerges in late April or early May.1

3

Illegal collection for the international pet trade is one of its main threats.1
