The Kimberley death adder is a venomous snake from the Elapidae family, which includes cobras and taipans. It lives in northwestern Australia, where it is found from Wotjulum to Kununurra. It is a stocky snake with a pear-shaped head and distinctive markings.1

For a time, the Kimberley and Cape York populations were both treated as the northern death adder, until the Kimberley population was separated as a new species.1
