Xibaar
Strauch's pit viper shares the altitude record for pit vipers with Crotalus triseriatus of Mexico. Both have been found at over 4,000 metres (13,000 feet).1
A 2019 study by Kai Wang and colleagues re-examined populations of this snake. It described the eastern Tibetan populations as a new species.1
Its known range runs from about 2,886 metres to 4,267 metres above sea level.1
