Òtítọ́

1

This spider is one of the few species known to attack nearly almost all approaching males, which biologists consider unusual because it can stop mating from succeeding.1

2

The raft spider can stay hidden underwater for several minutes.1

3

Females will sometimes eat the male before, during or immediately after mating.1

4

Males signal their presence to the female by using vibrations on her dragline, which may help them avoid being attacked.1
