The Eastern fortescue is a small, spiny fish that lives in the coastal waters of eastern Australia. It is a type of waspfish, a relative of the scorpionfishes. Its back fin spines are very venomous, so it is one to keep clear of.1

  • Has darker, irregular vertical bars on the head and along the flanks.1
  • Has 15 or 16 spines in the dorsal fin (the fin on the back).1
