Naja peroescobari is a cobra from the Elapidae family, found only on São Tomé island. It was recognised as its own species in 2017, after being thought to be the same as a mainland African cobra. On its island, it is one of the few predators that hunt land mammals such as rats.1

It preys on black rats (Rattus rattus) and least weasels (Mustela nivalis). It is one of the few predators of land mammals on the island.1
