Asiatic toad
The Asiatic toad is a toad found across East Asia, including much of China, parts of the Russian Far East and the Miyako Islands of southern Japan. It is one of the few toads that is known for its use in traditional Chinese medicine, where toxins from its skin have been used for centuries.1

Dried toad skins have been prescribed as remedies for dropsy and other ailments.1
It has been extirpated (wiped out locally) from some islands in recent years, possibly including Okinawa.1
