The Brazilian coral snake is a venomous snake that lives in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil. Its bright red, white and black rings warn predators that it is dangerous. It spends much of its time underground and in leaf litter.1

Its bright colours are the first warning. If a threat continues, it raises its tail, moves it back and forth, and flattens its body from top to bottom to look larger.1
