名字的由來： The species name honours Frederick Nutter Chasen, who was Curator of the Raffles Museum in Singapore in 1931. The genus name honours British herpetologist Garth Underwood.1

Chasen's mountain pit viper is a heavy-bodied snake from the pit viper family. It is found only on the island of Borneo, in the Mount Kinabalu area of northern Sabah, Malaysia. It lives on the forest floor and is mostly active at night.1

Dark tan or reddish brown back with dark brown crossbands.1
The crossbands are broken and alternate on the front of the body, then become regular towards the rear.1
