The Pará coral snake is a venomous snake from northern South America. It lives in the Amazon basin and is known for its bold rings of red, black and white. It is active at night and spends its time on the ground.1

  • The red rings are at least five times as wide as the black rings.1
  • Each black ring is 2 to 3 scales wide, and each white ring separating black from red is 1 scale wide.1
  • There are 13 to 20 black rings on the body.1
